Holistic Marketing - Huh?
I was told the other day that I need to adopt a Holistic Health plan. My response was, “Huh?” So I looked it up and here is a nice little description from a young lady named Suzan Walter, AHHA President:
Holistic Health is actually an approach to life. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this ancient approach to health considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. It emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to achieve maximum well-being, where everything is functioning the very best that is possible. With Holistic Health people accept responsibility for their own level of well-being, and everyday choices are used to take charge of one's own health.
What does this have to do with marketing? The same advice can apply to your marketing plan.
All too often we hear, “I think I want to try (fill in the blank).” That’s like focusing on a specific illness instead of taking in consideration the whole body. Who? What? Where? When? Why? And How? the illness is being affected in your entire body.
Let me let you in on a little secret. All, and any, marketing works. As long as it is targeted to your audience, speaks to their needs, consistent in rate of exposure, consistent and identifiable with your brand, and tracked properly. It’s the Holistic approach that makes it work, “everything functioning the very best that is possible.”
